"A bitter disappointment over time..." 2009-12-03

I bought this mouse about a year and a half ago to upgrade from my MX518 which is an amazing mouse for the price... well, the G5 was certainly an improvement, smoother, wouldn't 'jump' like an optical would sometimes on shiny surfaces, etc. To make this review short here are the Pros and Cons.

Pros:

*Easy to use.

*Software is easy to install, understand and tweak to your preference.

*Smoooooth!

*Long cable protected by what appears to be a nylon cover.

*Ergonomic.

*Has weights to mod the weight to your preference.

*Pinpoint accuracy.

*The 3 adjustable sensitivity settings are a blessing, specially for games like Battlefield 2 which for me, require higher sensitivity on a vehicle like a Tank or Jet and a lower sensitivity as a sniper.

Cons:

*Mouse cable gets cut easily over time, yes, the nylon cover for some reason will start coming off after 3-4 months of normal use!

*Mouse feet are a joke! The main one was worn smooth in about 6 months of use [On a normal mouse pad!] making it a pain to use. It should've come with replacement feet from the beginning.

*The wheel... oh boy, at the beginning it was nice and smooth, one month later it was THE WORST mouse wheel in history, I was warned about this but I ignored it, well if you google Logitech G5 and mouse-wheel you will see what I'm talking about, it's the biggest flaw on the G5 series. It becomes overly sensitive and with the slightest touch it moves, you will notice it to be VERY annoying if you play FPS games where you change weapons with your mouse-wheel!

*The mouse cable is flimsy and will rip over time with NORMAL use, mine just died yesterday after a horrible month of it randomly turning on and off all the time! I'm going to send it to Logitech for repairs [still under warranty] and get myself instead a G9 and leave the G5 as a replacement.

In summary... get an MX518, G9 or a Razer Death-Adder gaming mouse, the G5 is nice, but for the price I'd expect better quality. Son... I am disappoint. =[

I picked up a couple of the special edition G5's on the clearance rack. Too good to pass up and I have always been a big fan of Logitech's mice.

The Good

The wheel button is very wonky. Not only for accidentally toggling left and right, but also up and down. If you do not hit it just right... and I think the build quality of this model is subpar so the mechanical part of the mouse is not very solid.

One side button. Not too bad, you can program all the other buttons so a forward function can be in the mix.

Thoughts

There are better mice out there (like the final rev of the G5 with two side buttons). Stay away from this one.

"GREAT for gaming" 2008-05-15

I went from a stock ball mouse (<200dpi@200hz) to the G5 (2000dpi@500hz) and my accuracy in FPS's improved dramatically. The mouse just feels natural in my hand, w/ no buttons you can accidentally push (unlike the G3). The scroll wheel feels very smooth and doesn't skip over weapons when switching. The dpi buttons are useful for lowering sensitivity for menus or sniping. I thought the weight cartridge was a gimmick, but increasing the weight by up to 50% actually makes a difference (I play at max weight/sensitivity: 146g/2000dpi). I'd recommend the G5 to anybody: it's very precise, has very responsive buttons, feels like it can last forever under heavy use, and looks pretty cool to boot.

Well if you are looking at purchasing a G5 then you probably know all the Pros. The only Con that I can think of is that there is no Forward Button, only a Back. They fixed this in a later version of the mouse. Overall its an amazing mouse and is definitely worth the money.

"FPS mouse could save PC gaming" 2008-11-23

Ever since I got into First Persons, back in the days of Doom, I always wanted to do more then just hit enter on the keyboard, or the mouse button to fire a weapon that would dispatch my enemy. I tried out light gun games that allow you to weld a weapon or two and shoot at a screen that moves, they just aren't what I was after. I thought VR would have taken off a long time ago, but it sorta went quietly into the night, thanks to software support and the likes. I ordered this mouse to see if I could finally get that sensation I was after. You know what? they almost got it right!

The build quality is amazing, the feel of the "weapon" is very solid. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I was not in false hopes that this would be a light gun accessory for the PC. I read every last little detail about it when I ordered it.

I got it and hooked it up to my PC (no drivers are always a plus in my book) I immediately fired up Call of Duty 4 and begun testing. After about five minutes I notice something amazing, my horizontal tracking had improved three fold. I was able to keep up with enemies and take them down while they were still moving, something I had never been able to pull of with skill, just luck. There is a very good sensation when you squeeze up on the gun handle and press the right mouse button to look down the sights. It feels pretty authentic to have that added sense of immersion. The fact that mouse is for both hands makes it great for anyone to try.

It does have it's drawbacks though. there is no sense of recoil or even a vibration. Most Programmers think that people who own PCs don't want that sorta thing, personally I think that the mouse and the keyboard should vibrate. The DPI (Dots Per Inch) is a little low at only 800. The last real gripe I had with it was that since I was so used to using my hand to move the mouse, my forearm was on fire from holding out the "handshake" position for so long. However, after two days of that, it stopped, and the ergonomic gods smiled.

I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants to pull the trigger in all those FPS games and really shoots some baddies. that's the last thing, pulling the trigger is amazing, the metal trigger gives you a great feeling, and was very nice to wield pistols in game.

Though very well built, and fun to hold, it's not usable if you're already good at first-person shooters using a mouse -well, not without some serious retraining of your hand and wrist. Especially games heavy on right-click, like Unreal Tournament. It's basically a mouse, only bulkier and less comfortable for extended play.

"Works, but not great" 2008-06-27

I got it for $10. It works, but after an hour I packed it up and switched back to my cordless mouse.

The "trigger" (or left mouse button) needs to be pulled back pretty far before it clicks. You can resolve this by leaving it half cocked, or not letting go of the trigger all the way. After awhile though, your finger does get tired of always being half curled.

The "safety" or right mouse button is small and easily missed. It is also only on one side, so left handed people are out of luck.

But the worst part is the amount of desktop space that this takes up. It's got a much larger footprint than a mouse. Plus not being wireless means that there is that annoying "tail" to contend with. You need free desktop space about a large as a hard cover book to use this with, and even more if you want to use it comfortably.

On the plus side, setup was a breeze. Basically just plug it in and away you go. It had a nice big fancy box and no documentation to speak of (basically a piece of paper with "plug it in to USB" written in 6 different languages). It tracked beautifully, at least as well as my Logetek cordless mouse.

If it was a bit smaller, cordless, and if the trigger was more sensitive then I would probably still be using it.

For goofing around, it's a refreshing change and is actually quite fun.

I think the problem is that most people who spend a lot of time on games are used to a mouse and this screws them up. People also aren't really willing to "train" using this mouse.

Build quality is excellent and I really have no complaints - I just don't use it a lot.

For $10-$20, well worth it.

Kind of a shame that it tanked (when it first came out, it was ~80)

If there was one change I'd make, it would be to add some weight to it along with a "mousing surface". It's not light, but it could be heavier.

Great product. This is the second pad that I have bought from the FUNC brand. Your mouse tracks great on this surface. It has two surfaces that you can choose from. One for more detail movement and another that is a bit smother for fast tracking. I travel a lot with my work and I wanted a mouse pad with a solid back that I could put down on a bed that would give me a solid surface to work or game from. It is a solid mouse pad that should last for quite some time. I have been using this pad for about six months and I would buy this product again in a heart beat. I know this product is kind of pricy; but once you use one of these pads you will never go back to any other surface. This pad works great with any of the current laser mice out there. I have never tried this pad with the old ball type mice. I have used a Logitech G5, G7 and the MX 1000 on this pad. They all work great on this surface. I recommend this product to all of my friends who spend a lot of time behind a computer screen.

"fun but not comfortable" 2004-12-05

The mouse is fun, hard to set up on Windows XP SP2 but fun none-the-less. You need to locate a driver deep within the Immerson directory to get this to work in XP SP2(Home or Pro). The Desktop software supports a handful of games and you can download a shareware program for the rest, but it isn't worth the heafty price to register it and the mouse should have come with this "gaming" software as the mouse was some 40 bux it's self. The Force touch gaming software only works on sound not events so even Voice-overs can make it rumble which is stupid. Cutting out midrange doesn't work and if you cut out too much you won't feel even the heaviest explosions. I have found that people's Voice Overs make it rumble more than anything. a $29.99 waist of money. I even tried Icewind Dale and nothing made it rumble EXCEPT my OWN voice(which can be recorded for that game). Although it is "just" a RPG, thier are many magical effects and my own VOICE was the only thing that I could "feel". Other games I have tested include Scrapland(spaceships do NOT rumble only voices and music-lasers barely felt), Giants Citizen Kabuto(seems to work good as thier is little dialogue). Most of the games that are worth the use of this are already supported by the desktop version. MDK, odviously works perfect and was included, Half Life(1) I think works(don't have a copy to test). Emmerision.com has a game list(very short) to work WITHOUT the silly Gaming Touch force and it's price tag.

"Force Feedback Feeling for All Games" 2003-12-31

I initially got this mouse and the Logitech iFeel mouse for FPS games, like UT2003 and MOHAA. But not too many games seemed to support this mouse's force feedback feature, until Immersion Corp released "instant" force feedback software (TouchWare Gaming software) that let's you "feel" nearly every game with this mouse. You can feel weapons, explosions and any other sound in any game, including strategy games live CIV3. If you already have this mouse or any FF device, do yourself a favor and look into the TouchWare Software too. I've been enjoying the "feel" of Max Payne 2, Call of Duty and XIII recently. It's way cool.

"can't recommend it." 2008-12-12

I bought this back when it was like 80$+ so ouch for me. I like the actual feel of movement with this mouse better than razer's diamondback, but, it skips. i've updated drivers etc etc, researched it, and cleaned lens, but it skips. occasionally i'll be playing, and turn in a direction that i did not want. i use the razer exact mat, and tried with other mats, still same problem. but when it does work, its very good. i've read that all laser mice may suffer this problem.

the driver software is actually very helpful. though updating firmware is trying, and can even break the mouse if done improperly (which windows does with abandon).

i have no idea how it works on vista, since i use windows xp. the mouse DOES work in bsd/linux, but, i have yet to have the software installed on it. it works as a regular mouse there.

the buttons are a little awkward, but tolerable, and would be much more comfortable if it was larger, or i had a smaller hand. my ring finger, and pinky dangle off the mouse, and i have to huddle them close while playing. i always thought my hand was small (7" long, 4" wide" when cupped like it is on mouse, 3.5" if no thumb), but both razer mice i have cause my fingers to fall of the side uncomfortably.

i also have a logitech mx518 (which is also a great mouse), which is a little larger, and allows my fingers to rest properly, but, the copperhead does not have the huge hump like this mouse.

another problem i have with this mouse, is that the gliding pads come loose.

i haven't lost one just yet, but thinking of gluing it. oddly enough, that is something i dont think i should have to do. the pads haven't come off, if i remember properly, but they do move along the bottom of the mouse.

also any who have this mouse, or get this mouse, and have problems with your computer not booting, or dead mouse, try lowering the polling rate. i tried the 1000mhz, but it causes my pc to have seizures, though my pc is weak. but i have yet to notice any difference between 125, 500, apparently i can't do 1000hz. hp computers suck. self build or buy falcon northwest. jerks told me i had usb 2.0, and 8xdvd burner. i have neither.

dont believe the hype with all this super dpi junk. my diamondback is just as accurate as the copperhead. both zoom across the screen at high velocity, and can practically be moved a pixel at a time. i see no purpose in the 4000dpi lachesis, or this 2000dpi unless you have a huge monitor(and multiple) monitors. even then, the sensitivity levels of other mice can be adjusted to compensate.

even with the super sensitivity, too much is just as bad as too little. i find no matter what super mouse i use, i always adjust it to about the same feel in game anyway. actually in some games, such as ut2004, there is a minimum to how low the sensitivity can be lowered, which is a nuisance with high powered mice. i've read too many reviews, and had friends who tell me how they don't even use this mouse at its 2000 dpi. personally i do.

my advice for picking a mouse is try it in store first. it can have 9 to the tenth power dpi, but if its not comfortable, and does not glide smoothly it will not be used. also, dont expect this to make you into a super gamer. if your old mouse does what you want, then i'd suggest keep it.

i'm getting the razer boomslang ce since it is a little larger than my diamondback, ill throw in how this measures to it later.

mx518 < copperhead < mx510 < diamondback(the non 3g), but the razer boomslang ce over alle.

It's that simple. I don't own one of these, but I can tell you the ambidextous design does not optimize contour for righties or lefties. It's physically impossible to optimize for both. If you are a lefty it may be the best you can do, but certainly righties have any number of better options.

When I saw people raving about the razer I decided to give it a look, especially since I needed a gaming mouse considering that the one I had just did not cut it. I looked at a lot of their products including the Lachesis and Death Adder, but the Copperhead had a pretty good reputation so I decided to pick it up.

When I got it I was excited as a little kid, I immediately installed the drivers and started messing with it. But I noticed that if you have windows vista it's a good idea to download the new firmware from razor so your os will detect the mouse. It was a little odd but it was made back in 2006 or so, so I understand.

The mouse itself is amazing, I played bf2142 for a whole month before I got this mouse and I have to admit my old mouse was the main reason I didn't do as well. The response time and dpi was crap compared to this mouse. When I started playing with it my frag count went up...a lot. I know they say the hardware doesn't give you skill, but I can honestly say it does enhance it quite a bit. You just see the difference when you go from your old mouse to your new one and it just feels great. The mouse itself is light and takes a little while to get used to, but it's not that big of a deal unless your hands are rather large. The side buttons could be a little bigger but thankfully they're not so small that they're impossible to reach.

I'd recommend trying it out first, getting the feel for it before you buy it. And if you don't like it go for the Logitech G5, it's no better or worse than this mouse, but you may prefer the feel of it better.

Within 2 months of owning this mouse, it started acting up. Changing surfaces seemed to help for a while, but now this mouse is practically unusable. The cursor jumps all over the place, and even moves when the mouse is not being actively used.

Mouse is excellent, I use it daily, both for gaming (at highest dpi) and for EXTREME amazon shopping and the sort. I have put this mouse through it's paces from Call of Duty 4 at a lan party to WoW online to shopping in IE8. It performs well in any application, and the pictures online don't do it justice. I didn't buy for looks, i bought for the 3200dpi and adjustable weights/tracks. But it looks great too unlike the picture online.

I've only had this mouse for a few days, but that's all it took:

This is by far the best mouse I have ever used! The amount of sensitivity it can achieve is amazing. At it's highest setting, you can nudge the mouse with one finger and move your cursor across the entire screen! Of course, the sensitivity can be lowered to that of an average mouse, if it's too much for you.

Not only that, but it turns out having two modes is the most useful feature: I can use high sensitivity when playing Combat Arms or Call of Duty, then press a single button and turn it down for image editing and other low intensity applications.

To top it off, a gold-plated usb connector, a good feel, pretty leds, and super easy installation software make this mouse perfect in every way.

Yes, it is a product for a person with large hands. I love this device due to it's size. I'm not afraid of dropping it or bumping it against something and having to cradle it afterwards in fear of it being broken.

The DPI settings are amazing. I find most people rate this particular mouse badly (not just on this site, but others) mainly because they install the software wrong.

The 4 DPI settings range from above average to extreme speed. You can also save your particular settings (If you play more than one game) in the mouse itself.

It doesn't feel cheap, in fact, the heaviness and sturdy aspect of it makes it feel just the opposite.

The color, should you like such as I do, is flashy and gets people asking where you got the mouse and where can they get one.

All in all, I get better gaming, a device that fits my large mitts, and the Saitek symbol on the rear mouse that changes from a rainbow of colors.

This device is one I look forward to gaming with until I have to retire it from long nights of heavy FPS use.

I love this mouse.The design is second to none though the quality could use some improvement. I like this mouse so much that I have three of them brand new in the closet just in case they stop making it. Unfortunately due to the craftsmanship on certain ones I actually need those three in the closet. Each one is different unfortunately and one has lasted for two years where the other was in need of repair within 6 months. Creative honored the warranty and sent me a new one when I asked for one so hats off to them for that. I love this mouse regardless and would say for the price you might as well take the chance.

Hopefully Creative will look at this craftsmanship issue and fix it.

I bought this mouse right after getting a new laptop and Call of Duty 4. At first I was really impressed with the weights and the button to change the sensitivity. Unfortunately the honeymoon period didn't last long.

After a few weeks inserting and removing the USB mouse cord would cause my computer to give me a blue screen and shut down (this hasn't happened with any other mice/mouses? on this computer). I learned to tolerate this...somehow, but after about 5 months the left mouse button decided it had a mind of its own. It was the same problem everyone else has had. Mouse double clicking or not clicking at all.

Its a great mouse for gaming and other computing uses. Only drawback is that it will die out on you quickly. And if you're lucky like me it will cause your computer to crash on a daily basis.

I bought this mouse for my dad for playing counter-strike. He seems to like it, but he had a laptop mini mouse... so anything is an improvement. I have a Razer Deathadder, and the 1010 mouse just doesnt compare. The mouse is comfy, but doesnt track as well. Anoter problem I ran into was the 3rd and 4th buttons dont work in the game... Maybe its just me, but its pretty lame to have extra buttons that dont work. If ur not cheap, go for a Razer instead... ~Viperbird~

Overall, this is a very high quality mouse, and on top of that its beautiful with amazing functionality. I only once ran into a hitch with it, after not using it for several days it didn't seem to want to move, but the clicking functions still worked perfectly. I switched USB ports and then it worked again like new (couldn't tell you the reason for the problem). Other than that, which could be unique to the one i purchased, I would say this mouse is will worth the $$.

The packaging is uninspiring, to be sure, and I'd prefer more shapes besides squares, but this product in the end is the best of its kind on the market today. If you want more grip, comfort or having some mouse/kb related hand pains, this product is highly recommended.

Twenty-five square "blisters" are a lot and more than you'll need for a single mouse. I had some trouble with stickiness after removal, but it's nothing a little cotton ball + alcohol couldn't solve. You should probably plan out where you want to place them before doing so.

This thing is made of real motorcycle handlebar rubber and combined with the nubs, gives you fantastic grip. Maybe a little too much! Gamers and graphic designers will be pleased. I have a Razer mouse and these little grippers go beyond the Razer's built-in rubber grips.

The "blisters" are thicker than I expected (though, you can see from the pics that they are somewhat thick), but many with bigger hands will appreciate it.

All in all, a niche product, but if you're in the market for something that can give you extreme grip and comfort, this is probably the best out there right now for your mouse and your money.

After getting tired of my Mighty Mouse Wireless (Apple's wireless laser mouse) not getting along with traditional mouse pads and working "so-so" on my bare desktop surface, I did some reading and found the Rocketfish gaming mouse pad that was getting great reviews as a laser mouse pad. The reviews didn't really prepare me for two things about this mouse pad. The first is the size: It's huge! Sorry, I don't have the dimensions with me but it's easily twice the size of a "traditional" mouse pad. The second is that it's actually anodized aluminum so it's very rigid. This mouse pad is two sided, one for speed and one for control although a quick check of each side revealed little difference for me. I'll be trying the control side in the near future as I have photo's to edit. The pad has four "feet" to keep in place and you'll find them on either side but they are unobtrusive and infrequently I find them in the way of the Mighty Mouse's ability to "click".

Once I was past those two things (size and material), it was a match made in heaven. I have enough desk space to use the pad and the red aluminum edges don't bother me at all. The way the mouse works is the critical element though - that's why I bought it in the first place. it's like a new mouse it works so well.

Yes, a $20 mouse pad seems to be a bit much but when the mouse runs 3x that amount, it's a good investment in ensuring it works properly. I would recommend this mouse pad to anyone looking for a larger, more durable surface to run their optical mouse over.

I love this controller. The 4-way hat switch is wonderful for strafing in first person shooters. I also used it extensibly for Diablo II (despite what drealxn said in his review). I defined keyboard macros on the 8-way hat switch to select an attack, click the mouse button to perform the attack, then switch to a finishing move when I released the hat switch. It worked great. I must admit that getting the full 8 different functions from the 8-way hat switch is difficult if you're in a hurry. I can consistently select N, E, W, S positions with accuracy. Selecting the NW position I'll often get either N or W first, before zeroing in on NW. However, even then, I can still get 8 functions by programming it as a 4-way hat switch and using the shift key. Setting it as a 8-way hat switch provides 16 functions with the shift key. By default, the pinky finger on the left hand controller is the shift key. However, you can reprogram any key to function as the shift key.

The only reason that I don't give this controller a five star rating is because they seem to die after a few years. I've owned two and both have gone bad. Just stopped working. I may buy a third if I can't find anything better. There are several left hand keypads that look good but I have not found another mouse with a 4-way hat switch. I love the functionality the hat switch on the mouse gives me.

I have never liked the keyboard for use with action/shooter type games (Doom, Unreal, Elite Forces)..
I would have to look down at the keys and my fingers would move and it was very fustrating.

I was actually looking for a mouse with a hat where the scroll
wheel usually is (I never found one) when I stumbled upon the
Saitek GM3 Action Pad.

The reviews were mixed but I decided to buy it.

It works GREAT!! I think the SHIFT key could be better placed..it so far from the other keys I don't use it. But everything else is AWESOME! The hat keeps you from having to press the keys on the keyboard and the scroll wheel is great for strafing..and the other buttons are placed fairly well.

One thing I have noticed. I used to have a larger desk and I had room to place the GM3 at the 2:00/8:00 position for the most comfort. I now have a much smaller desk and I have to place the controller almost straight up and down. It's harder to get to some of the keys in that position. I want my old desk back!

I recommend this for any 3rd person shooter game!

I was going to buy the Belkin hand pad, but found this one at a local retailer for really cheap. I figured for that price I could take the risk. Boy was I surprised! Not only was it worth more than I had anticipated, I couldn't game without it anymore. Once you figure out how to program the buttons, this little number is GREAT!!! Unfortunately, it is difficult getting this thing to work with the Cyborg Feedback joystick from Saitek.

I was looking for something like this to play keyboard/mouse type of games (I'm a Diablo II junkie).

Unfortunately, the pad has the feel of a really cheap game pad (well, probably worse). Don't expect to use the pad's 8-way control or the mouse's 4-way button correctly. You should expect to get about half their functionality (4 and 2) - don't expect any accuracy if you try to use more.

If you're a Diablo II player (or play another game that requires the use of many keyboard buttons) don't expect this to fulfill your need to remove the keyboard completely from the gameplay; so if you want to replace the keyboard, look elsewhere - just not enough functionality here.

Excellent idea though and I really do like the idea of the mult-way button, but just very poor execution. I don't know how good Microsoft's implemention is, so I can't compare the two; however, my next step is to get a better mouse with some more functionality (ie 1 or 2 more programmable buttons).

I bought this controller pair for a SPECIFIC reason: to play Soldier of Fortune competitively online. Player movement is enhanced due to the hat control used in conjunction with the mouse. My juke moves have caused a few opponents to accuse me of cheating, hee hee!

There are a lot of options controlled by the keyboard in this game, and nearly impossible to use thoroughly without taking your eyes off the screen (and almost certainly getting fragged). The programmable game pad solves this problem quite nicely, with a Shift key to double the button functions and macro capabilities as well. Oh, it fits your hand nicely, too. The wheeled mouse even has a 4-way POV thumb switch (in the heat of battle, I can't ever remember to use it though).

USB makes it a snap to connect (as the mouse connects to the gamepad itself, not your computer) and the gamepad has built-in storage for unused cord length. You can program (easily) to your heart's delight or use a large selection of pre-set profiles available on Saitek's webpage for your favorite games.

I can only get 4-way movement out of the "8-way" hat switch, or I'd rate it a five!! A nice value for TWO controllers, as the mouse will function ably with any software when connected, but still works side-by-side with an existing attached mouse, thus avoiding those annoying switch-outs.

I've been using my gaming mouse for over 6 months. One of the buttons stopped working the first week, and I was about to send it back. But I wiggled it and it came back to life, and has been going strong ever since. I play FPS games with it, so I'm pushing it pretty hard. At the time I bought it, it was highest benchmarked mouse for tracking speed. In other words, you can move the mouse very fast on the mouse pad, and it will still track smoothly. Once I got it, I combined it with a very large mouse pad. Now my aiming movements are small, done with the wrist, and my running/turning movements are large (and fast) done with the whole arm. This style of play improved my shooting accuracy immediately.

The size of the mouse is perfect for me. Not to big, not to small. I have big hands, but I think it would still be comfortable for someone with medium hands. I use the side buttons quite a bit. Some people complain about hitting them on accident, but I don't have any problems with them. All in all, a great mouse, and less expensive than many other gaming mice.

This mouse is far better than the generic mice that always come with computers. The mouse is very responsive and while it seems obsessive to spend money on something that normally costs nothing, it is well worth the extra cost. I don't game, but the accuracy and responsiveness really makes a difference in everyday computer use. I initially purchased a Razer Death Adder to use at the office and I was so impressed with the improvement in every-day Windows applications that I purchased this one for my home computer. The specs seem to be the same as the Death Adder, but I like the Death Adder much better. Maybe it is the larger size. I can't exactly "put my finger" on the reason why I like the Death Adder better, but I do. I also have a wireless Logitech mouse that is far superior to the Gateway generic mouse I originally had. My sister bought me the Logitech mouse one Christmas when she came to visit because she said it (the generic) sucked so bad. My wife liked the Logitech so much she confiscated it for her computer. I bought this mouse because my cousin had the original diamondback, which was awesome. This mouse is very ergonomic for palm grip and claw grip gamers, and is ambidextrous, so any gamer could use it.

The sensitivity is really good. You can adjust the sensitivity anywhere in about 2 seconds, from "move the mouse a millimeter, turn you gun a meter and a half" to "I like using my computer without ever having to pick up my mouse" all the way to a ridiculously insensitive setting.

After I bought this mouse, I got my first non-commander first place finish on BF2. It really does help.

My only problem with this mouse is the driver that comes with the mouse doesn't work on my computer, the driver support is useless, so I cannot set up the customizer to be use the side buttons.

Other than that, great mouse.

I have owned this mouse (in red) for three years now, and almost every time I put my hand on it I'm reminded of how lucky I am to be working with the best mouse I've ever used. I've been working with the eight buttons for so long that I hate using the useless mice I work with at my job. With this mouse, and the ways you can set it up, you only need a space the size of about a silver dollar to cover an entire 19" monitor, plus perform a variety of functions directly from the mouse.

Not only that, but with two users on my personal computer, my wife's settings are completely independent and to her liking. The weight and feel of this mouse is perfect, and I have become so adept at working directly from the mouse that it is almost unfathomable for me to consider anything less. Factor in the great price and awesome design, and I couldn't recommend anthing else. Keep in mind that I bought mine new for around [...] bucks, so anyone who tries to sell a used one for [...] bucks is probably trying to rip you off. Plus, if you are buying a used one, make sure you are getting the original software so you can customize everything to your liking.

This is an excellent gaming mouse, along with photo-editing mouse. Anything that you need to be very exact with, or have a bunch of extra buttons that don't get in the way, this is the perfect mouse. It's a bit out-dated now with the MX518 costing about the same and having a higher resolution (I have both), but the only reason I had to upgrade mine was because I wore it out. It took a good six years or better to wear through this beast.

As an ex-semi-pro gamer, and as a semi-professional photoshop user, I wholeheartedly recommend this. Once you use it, you'll never go back to a regular mouse. I never get cramps from using it, nor do I ever accidentally hit the extra side-mouse buttons. It's a great gaming mouse for any type of game (I use it for Counter-Strike and World of Warcraft).

If you just plan on browsing the web, it's quite a bit more than you need.

I received this mouse as part of a package with a new computer, and I had to replace it on the first day. Now that I needed a back-up mouse, I decided to pull it out of it's box for the first time in 2 years, just to see that it still suffers from the same problems. The cursor jumps wildly across the screen at odd times, sometimes without my hand even being on it. Additionally, it will change active windows, jump to the start menu, perform phantom clicks (where it registers a click without the necessary stimulus on my part), and generally cause a great nuisance when all I'm trying to do is navigate the web. I wonder if this is just because it is a cheap product, or if it is a lame attempt at mapping expressions to specific functions. Either way, Creative Labs really dropped the ball on this one. Just in the course of trying to scroll through this page and type this review, the mouse switched my window to iTunes and closed an additional browser window I had in the background. Do not be drawn in by cheap gimmicks like the sensitivity clicker. What's the point of having adjustable sensitivity on a mouse that doesn't really work in the first place?

I'm going to make this short and sweet. This mouse is a rip off. I'll give it two stars because it works.

It should be listed as gaming mouse on a budget and drop the price to $30. Gamer's keyboards, mice and headsets need to meet a higher standard of qaulity to really enhance their gaming ablities. This mouse does just the opposite.

When using this mouse I felt like I was fumbling around with the mouse wheel selection rather than being in control. The buttons on the side are hard to use without regripping the mouse. The main clicking buttons, right and left, are designed in such a way your grip can actually get in the way of the buttons. These complaints are popular among FPS and MMORPG gamers. If your hand doesn't fit this mouse perfectly you're going to have issues.

Seems more like a marketing scheme than a quality product. "Gaming mouse"? - I suppose it works fantastic for solitary and mine sweeper.

This has been a great mouse for the price I paid for it (way cheaper than retail price). Only one problem, which is really annoying and causing me to get something else now... the scroll wheel is sort of getting stuck every couple of revolutions. There is something causing extra resistance. I'm not sure what is going on in there, but my index finger is not liking it.

I don't think this mouse (even in perfect working condition) is currently worth $50. I'm getting a Logitech G500 for just a little more than that, which has a lot more features. But at least this one has the forward and back buttons on the left side. If you can get it cheap enough it might still be worth it. Hopefully you don't have the mouse wheel problem I have, though. Until it started having that problem I really liked it. Due to this problem and I think it is overpriced I am giving it three stars.

Note on ownership length: I purchased this in August 2007, but didn't start using it until about a year ago or less (it just sat in the corner for a long time).

"Better on Fatigue, horrible with accuracy" 2009-10-30

I bought this mouse to reduce fatigue when making CAD-style drawings. It definitely "feels" better and reduces hand-cramping when drawing for long periods of time. The problem I have is that the "click" functions are very inaccurate and do not even register most of the time. I've resorted to using the laptop buttons instead...it's really dissapointing, and double-clicking on a folder is nearly impossible - half the time you'll accidently drop it somewhere else (i.e., click-n-drag), rather than actually opening the damn thing...anyway, I don't have time for custom settings - I simply wanted a mouse that was large enough (and this one is) to not make my hand cramp-up while producing CAD drawings. It handles this function well, but at the expense of all other typical "mouse" functions.

If you press caps lock twice, it triggers a profile change and also freezes your mouse until you press caps lock one more time.

If you use the caps lock button for voice chat, you'll be unable to use these mice without forcing yourself to change your voice chat hotkey.

Do you ever accidentally press caps lock? What's the first thing you'd do? Press caps lock again to turn it off right? Oh, you just changed your mouse profile and locked up your mouse.

Other than that, the mouse does occasionally stop functioning (laser stops working) and sometimes the mouse button gets stuck in the down toggled position (when you press the mouse button, it detects the mouse is up, when you let go it detects the mouse button as down).

The OCZ forum moderator says they contacted the "PM" (project manager) about this issue and he reported that this is a slow process "understandably" to get this fixed.

Bewaaaaarrree...

Anyways before the OCZ Behemoth, I had an OCZ Dominatrix and that worked out ok. :)

I currently have two OCZ Behemoths and both have the exact same issues (they are most likely logic issues in the mice themselves).

Well, I guess my title is mostly accurate, except I believe that OCZ doesn't actually make this mouse. I think this one Taiwanese company by the name of Dexin actually makes the mouse, but...

There is a lack of quality control. My friend bought this mouse for himself, and I bought one as a gift. My friend's mouse would be five stars, but this one is three. In my example, the base of the mouse does not fit in with the top of the mouse very well, so the whole thing is prone to rocking. As the sensor (it's a standard sensor that pretty much all laser mice use, marketing be damned. It's made by HP... uh, Agilent... uh, Avago... or whatever the latest spinoff is called) is quite sensitive on this mouse, this minute rocking results in rather inaccurate tracking. We've managed to push the mouse together more tightly, minimizing this problem (eliminating it in most cases), but the fact is the mouse did not come in perfect shape.

As an aside, you can change the profiles on this mouse by rapidly hitting caps lock. A bit annoying at first when we were not aware of this feature, but it might be useful for people who really take advantage of the multiple profiles that this mouse can store.

We got one of these and it would work great, then suddenly the cursor would race across the page and stick. After restarting the thing a few times we sent it back and asked for a replacement, since it was really good when it did work. The replacement just came today (kudos to Amazon for amazing service). This one doesn't work at all. In fact, you can visualize the laser component up inside and to the left of the 'eye' in the housing. It is either loose or wasn't installed correctly. The quality control on these things must be shabby.

"If you are looking at this, you probably need it" 2009-12-07

The description is straight forward, and hopefully you are only looking into this because your Copperhead has worn out on the top, and not just considering which mouse to buy. The Copperhead is an aging mouse and besides being cheaper, it is replaced by the Lachesis, Ikari, and others.

Compared to the older top, the material is much better and should not wear away, solving the only problem with the Copperhead. The buttons are updated to the same material as their current mice. If you don't know what it feels like, it is a rubber that is softer and grips better than the Copperhead's old plastic. It is also more durable. I like the contrast in color of the new top. I believe they don't have a light for the new top because it is part of the wearing out problem, but if you like the old one, find some tutorials to swap in the old one. Speaking of which, you might want to find a tutorial for putting the top back, because it's a tight fit. Even without one, you should be able to do it though. Don't worry about pushing hard; it's not going to break.

My included screwdriver did not working on the screw, but any real screwdriver will work. Just don't bother with theirs if you have your own. Dead buttons and new feet are both good and working, but I didn't need to replace my feet yet, so I'm keeping those for the future.

Finally, the weights are a great. They are already prepared with an adhesive, so it will never be lose. They are also good quality and though you will never see them while they are in your mouse, they look good. I am not a fan of weight customizing mice, but if you are unsatisfied with your mat, changing the mouse weight can be a partial solution.

TLDR: If you have a worn out Copperhead and don't want to whole new mouse, you have to get this. And Amazon is the most reputable seller for this, so you probably have to get it here. So get it.

The Razer Copperhead is an awesome mose, but it has a little detail... after a few years the Left Mouse Button begins to double click when its held down... and its a critical failure for a gaming mouse... Luckily enough its a failure in the materials of the button, not in the microswitch (at least in my case)

Paying extra for get fixed a design flaw?? well I get ur point, but the mouse is so awesome that it deserves to be rescued! (besides my warrany had expired)

Well I thought it would be really cool to customize my Razer and I was excited about doing it. Not very satisfied with the results. Making it heavier makes it harder to slide on the surface. I was looking to make it feel more solid and it sort of did but not worth the cost of harder sliding.

Also the top is hard to reattach and has to be fiddled with to get it to seat.

Another item is that the new Razer Logo disc on the top sticks up and is not comfortable to me.

I wound up taking the weight out and putting the original logo disc on the top onto the new silver top. I even had to super glue it on as the disc is not made to be easily removed and the tabs snapped off.

I basically paid the price to just have a silver top shell and nothing else. I LOVE my mouse but this kit doesn't do it for me. It does have new teflon feet for the bottom that I also found useful.

"Great design, but poor construction!" 2009-11-30

I loved the small size since I like to grip with my fingers. This has all the buttons I need but the QUALITY simply sucks! The main buttons started going out and not responding due to poor design of mechanism inside the mouse!!! I tried super glue but that lasted a few days before it would not respond to clicks. I bought another thinking it was bad defect, but it happened again! So not buy this if you are an avid gamer! I was sad because this was my favorite mouse to use! However, it did suffer from bad tolerances and the weight rattles.

I just bought a Sidewinder X8 and it sucks too due to it's huge size and the worst wheel ever designed! Anyway, stay away from these 2 mice!

I'm using it right now, and while I do like it, it does have its faults. Some minor, some major.

*** UPDATE *** Possible fix for the spaz problem! See bottom.

The good:

* The scroll wheel is nice. A bit of ridged texture, and enough of a click resistance that it rolls quickly but doesn't end up whizzing past what you want. I really like it.

* The buttons are in good places, and the far right button is great for a 'need it when I need it but don't want to hit accidentally' button. It's a little odd to start with but you get used to it pretty quickly.

* The weight cartridges are a lot nicer than you might think they are. Can definately feel the difference, even though there's only 12 grams difference between heaviest and lightest.

The bad:

* The buttons are very stiff. Tend to make my fingers hurt after some time; and when you're playing WoW for hours at a time, that's kind of important. Not incredibly bad, and it would probably wear in over time and loosen up some.

* The side button is in a mildly awkward position, I end up pushing it with the first joint of my thumb, or I have to move my whole hand. Again, not a major problem, I just use it for something I don't need in a desperate hurry.

* The front mouse feet could be a little larger. I can see them wearing down over time. A second large one like the one on the back would have made a big difference.

The ugly:

* Bought it off ebay, but it was brand new in the box, still sealed and I had to cut the plastic to get to it. It's less than a month old. It's already hosed. I have the same random doubleclick problem other people have mentioned, both here and elsewhere on the internet. I'm really sorry it's b0rked this quickly. My old mouse is going to go back in service, and aside from the blue LED that lights up the scroll wheel being faded and flickering, it still works perfectly at over five years old, 60 times the lifespan of this mouse.

I wanted to love this mouse, and I did for its short life... but random clicking and not doing what I need it to do is intolerable. Poor workmanship, Creative.

Ok, since Creative disavows all knowledge of this mouse-shaped turd, I took it apart. If you're willing to do some work at it, you may be able to repair it and get it back in working order.

Note that this will void your warranty, but hey, since they don't seem to be interested in honoring it, what the heck.

Make sure you either have replacement mouse feet, or are very, very careful to take the existing ones off. Undo the four screws underneath and the top will come off. Be careful, as it is attached to the circuit board inside by a short cable. Examine the small posts on the bottom of the mouse buttons and you will probably notice a worn area where the button on the microswitch hits. This is the problem; the soft plastic has worn away to the point where the buttons no longer authoritatively press the microswitch; thus you get a very light connection and 'noise' causing one or more extra clicks to register. Ugly ASCII art ahead;

To fix the problem, you can do a number of things. One mention I found was to use several pieces of paper, or possibly a bit of business card, just taped over the button so the post doesn't have to move as far. This will probably work, but you run into the problem that the card will eventually wear away and you're right back where you started, plus paper dust. Could use this as a quick test fix, I guess.

If you can find some very, very thin but stiff metal, you could shoe the post; or possibly tape it over the button as with the card above. Or you can insert a very small nail or tack or such into the end of the post. Basically need to create a harder bearing surface.

First off, what I received is NOT a FATAL1TY 2020 mouse. Take a look at the paperwork that comes with it. Right, the red and black sheet. You've been shipped a FATAL1TY 1010 mouse instead.

Secondly --and most importantly-- the left and right mouse buttons have started double-clicking, triple-clicking, or not-clicking when I'm just attempting a single-click. They also don't always recognize a double-click. I have two of these, and both started to fail after about three weeks of use individually.

So far, the coolest thing about this mouse has been THE BOX it came in. I can't recommend this mouse to anyone.

I've had the mouse for about a month now (quick shipping) and the only flaws I've found are:

1. Mouse tips forward often during regular play.

2. Drivers CD will not work with XP Media Center Edition, however I found drivers for the 1010 online and they work fine.

3. The left mouse button has gotten less responsive over time and is difficult to double click.

4. The weights included don't fit properly and rattle around, so I had to add tape to fill the gap.

I previously had a Razer Lachesis and I have to say that compared to the price, I'd definitely get this one again. Even if I do have to mess around with the mouse button to fix it the value is still better for the price.

This is not a big mouse and if you are use to a full size windows mouse, this one will feel small. The adjustable weights will help you find the right feel for yourself and the convenient clickable light at the top will let you change your sampling rate on the fly. There are 5 programmable buttons and one of the nicest features is the third mouse button for your middle finger. It falls naturally into place and you will find yourself using it for different functions depending on the game you are playing. So much packed in so little for a low price, try to beat it. Here is my mini review of high end mice I've tried recently.

Ideazon Reaper Edge Gaming Mouse - 3200 DPI (3200 DPI, 6 buttons): It's a decent mouse except for the side buttons. The bottom side button is under a nub that is a bit annoying to reach in the middle of a first person shooter fight. The top side button is a little nicer to reach and decent to use for knocking zombies off yourself in L4D. The wheel is annoying since sometimes as you scroll it seems to click without putting much pressure on it (which is annoying if you have something bound to MOUSE3 and you just wanted to scroll the mouse wheel). Also, it would have been nice to have two DPI buttons instead of the one (easier to "go to sniper mode"/"go to regular mode"). Currently the DPI button toggles between 5 different DPI levels one at a time and there isn't a way just to use less than that (I'd prefer just two for the above scenario...). I wouldn't recommend this mouse in it's current form.

Razer Lachesis 4000 dpi Laser Gaming Mous--Banshee Blue (4000 DPI, 9 buttons): This is the first mouse that gave me actual pain my my fingers and palm after just a couple of hours use and it has just about the worst ergonomics of any mouse I've ever used. The side buttons are in a very inconvinient location. In first person shooters you'll constantly be accidentally clicking either side's buttons since they're in the area where you grip the mouse (they're designed so you need to put "extra" pressure in the grip to click them). The laser itself is pretty decent at 4000 DPI, but it is placed in the middle of the mouse instead of closer to the front, so you basically need to move the whole mouse to aim instead of the regular first person shooter "tilting the front of the mouse" aiming. Be sure to go to their web site and use the updated drivers and firmware or you'll see a lot of "mouse jumping" problems even when you're not touching the mouse. Also I noticed the mouse buttons would register as "up" as I was turning sometimes with the mouse button down (such as a Heavy in TF2 spinning his gun using the side button, which is annoying as heck). There is also no on-mouse DPI display so there's no way to know which DPI setting you're at (one of the five DPI settings you're forced into). Anyone had any good experience with this mouse?

Logitech G9 Laser Mouse (3200 DPI, 7 buttons, weights, two grip types): I used this mouse for a bit less than a year and it is by far my favorite mouse. One problem is the connector between the mouse and cord eventually went bad and then the mouse had connection issues (Google this for more information). Other than that, it has by far the best tracking and button location of any mouse I've used. I like that the DPI switching is under the left mouse button and it is easy to tell what DPI level I currently am at. Highly recommended!

Logitech 931375-0403 G7 Laser Cordless Mouse Black (2000 DPI), Logitech NEW G5 Laser Mouse (2000 DPI) and Logitech MX518 Gaming Optical Mouse - Metal (1800 DPI): If you can't afford the G9, the models to the left are similarly good. I've used and like them, but they all had tracking accuracy loss over time and needed to be replaced (generally after about 6 to 8 months of every day gaming 4+ hours a day). None of the older models have the high 3200 DPI laser, but the G5/G7 have switchable DPI levels and generally feel good and are ergonomically nice for using over long periods of time.

OCZ OCZMSDMXD Dominatrix Laser Gaming Mouse/MSI GS-501/Cyber Snipa Stinger (3200 DPI, 7 buttons, weights): Very good for the price (one of the cheapest high end gaming grade mice). The button locations are good and so is the feel of the mouse. The default drivers that come with the mouse don't work with games well. You'll have to download the newer ones from their web site and do some special settings for your games to register the side buttons as MOUSE4 and MOUSE5. Highly recommended (drivers could use some work though).

As with any mousing, be sure to have a good quality mouse pad that doesn't need to be replaced (I used to replace those 3M Precise mouse pads about every month heh). I've been using a fUnc sUrface 1030, but there are a lot of newer ones out there now. Just be sure it's something you can soap wash and you should be good to go (no foamy or cloth pads).

very awkward feel from most mice..

the extra buttons on the right side of the mouse are nearly impossible to hit without shifting your hand..

so it makes them pretty much useless while playing combat, or pvp type games that require quick reaction time

I bought this mouse back in March 2008 for the sole purpose of becoming more accurate with a laser mouse versus a standard optical mouse. I did some extensive reading and became of the opinion that wired mice vs. wireless mice are more accurate, responsive, and less affected by interference. I now have over a year and a half worth of experience to back that statement up. Having used the copperhead, a standard mouse, and a wireless Logitech mouse/keyboard combo to play Battlefield 2 I highly recommend going with a gaming mouse such as the copperhead. I will relate my experience in usage as seen through the eyes of a FPS, 95% Battlefield 2 and 5% Call of Duty 4.

Pros:

1. Large buttons - hard to miss with your fingers when running into those common intense battle times.

2. Button Location - ONLY on the left are those two buttons conveniently located. I cannot and have not been able to push the right side buttons

3. Accurate - as hell

4. Responsive - noticeably responsive vs. standard mice. The combination of accuracy and responsiveness has allowed me to become that much more accurate.

5, Light and easy to move on a hard surface and glides almost too much on a soft mouse pad.

6. Blue Lights - cool, but means nothing functionally.

7. Little Hand/Wrist Fatigue - and I'm talking almost constant movement for 3 hours average and up to 6-8 on my longer bouts of gaming.

8. Mouse covering - whatever it is it works, has not worn at all since I bought it. Most of the mouse is shiny normal black plastic, but the top is a matte black plastic and the two main mouse buttons are something I've never seen before, but is comfortable for sure

Cons:

1. Button Location - Right Side Buttons are in a next to impossible place to reach with your fingers in a normal position.

2. Button Programmability - Having an moderate amount of computer savvy I was unable to get Battlefield 2 to even use the right side buttons. Therefore I couldn't program them for anything, which is good because I couldn't even reach them. I would say I have normal to larger hands... ie. I can palm a basketball most of the time.

3. Shape of Mouse Sides - The cross-section of the mouse is this shape

Meaning the sides starting at the base slant out dramatically to the light strip and then rounds on the top like a normal mouse. This does allow me to easily pick up the mouse and move it very slightly when looking around quickly and for a great amount of distance. I don't like it because while in a normal hand position you are only touch the light strip with like 3 fingers. HOWEVER, this may be what makes this mouse so responsive and delicately accurate. I DON'T KNOW.

Mouse Pad Tastes - This mouse will not work well on a black cross hatched pattern or the black pads with grey/white squares on it. Just get a solid black mouse pad... you're be fine. People don't recommend it, but every once and a while I use a regular soft cloth mouse pad and whip butt.

Software Time lapse - sometimes when the computer is sleeping and I start it up the mouse won't work for like 2-3 minutes, but just calm down it's coming.

Overheating Cord??? - I'm not sure, I hope this is not the case, it could be my computer or even the program. Sometimes while playing mostly single player rounds the mouse stops working and will not move in any program or windows. I have moved it to another USB jack like the front of the computer and it runs fine, but sometimes that doesn't help and I have to restart and it's fine for a while. I did notice that it happened to my dads new laptop when he played it for the first time, so I'm thinking it is more of a computer overheating issue and not the mouse problem.

Overall:

I would recommend this mouse to anyone looking for better accuracy and responsiveness. I run it on 2000 dpi all the time and have done very well with it in Battlefield 2. For normal applications it is fine, but the Copperhead really stands out at game time. I am going to try a Logitech G5 or something else to amend this and hopefully give a better review... I just ordered it today.

Bottom Line: Buy it. It does have a learning curve but Well Worth it.

This mouse has all the bells and whistles - it can do virtually anything. But it has one major problem. It is too big for anyone with a smaller hand.

From my wrist to the tip of my middle finger, my hand is 6.5 inches long. This mouse is 5 inches long. To comfortably hold it, i cannot reach the mouse wheel. The two buttons on the right side are completely inaccessable to me, rendering them useless. To reach them, i have to hold my hand in a painful claw position because my pinky does not rest that far out naturally.

This mouse is probably fantastic for a normal man's hand, but i have a smaller woman's hand, and purchasing this was a waste of my money.

If you are a woman or a man with a smaller hand, you must take this into consideration when ordering this mouse.

I like my X20 gaming mouse. It feels great in my hand and tracks accurately in all dpi modes. The scrolling wheel is smoother than any of my other gaming mice and the thumb buttons are better located than on some of my more expensive gaming mice. The mouse tracks very smoothly on my mouse pad. The pre-set dpi settings make sense and are easy to access in mid game. The left click is a little louder than my other mice but it clicks smoothly and reliably. Given that this mouse is about half the price of my Razer and Logitech gaming mice I am well satisfied with it. I had no quality issues with my mouse at all.

This mouse, while seemingly attractive in terms of the features it offers, in fact is of low quality, and has some serious issues in terms of how it works. The mouse is very light, and appears to be cheaply made. There's no heft to it at all, making it really much too shaky and imprecise for online gaming. Much worse is the fact that the DPI setting will randomly change, slowing down the pointer speed. The pointer also hangs and freezes randomly while the mouse is in use. My advice is to STAY AWAY.

I've been using the Razer DeathAdder Guild Ward edition mouse for about one month. It's very fast in-game, but too fast for comfortable use with Windows applications. I normally have to accelerate my mouse speed, but had to slow this mouse down to 4.5-5 for use in Windows applications and online.

The size of this mouse is a bit larger than average, and measures 4.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches high at its highest point. It would probably be extremely comfortable in a large man's hand, but is too large for a woman to use comfortably because it keeps easing forward out of my hand. The sleek satiny texture is almost sinful but makes it difficult for a smaller hand to grip. If it was available in a smaller size I'd exchange it.

The included software is easy to use and offers complete customization of mouse functions. What makes this mouse appealing for Guild Wars fans is the illuminated scroll wheel and glowing logo. The logo glow fades on and off, the scroll wheel glows steady.

After owning one for about 5 months the cable from the front of the mouse began to short so i would lose connection for s few seconds and hear the "Sol-Do" usb unplugging sound. Then after a few seconds you would hear the "Do-Sol" connecting sound and it would work again. I really think this has to do with my play style though, really low sense and i flick a lot. (quake live rails) Almost all my mice have struggled from this problem after 3-6 months though so I will not dock this mouse for it. But ok, onto the real review.....

Although i had a hard time proving it (using test)this mouse just felt really inaccurate. No matter what settings i used i could not give it a natural 1:1 feel. It felt like it added small amounts of acceleration either positive or negative when you use flick shots. As that was not enough i noticed my accuracies fall quite a bit.

Since then i have switched to the death adder my rail accuracies have improved again. From about 50% to about 65% some games hitting 80%-85% =p So I can say that I strongly feel that it was due to the mouse's inconsistencies. I have also heard many other fellow quake live players (a few pros too) complain about this mouse.

For the price they are asking I do not think it is worth it at all.

This is a great mouse. Originally, I went to a local store and tested the gaming mice they had. I was interested in the MS Sidewinder. But the sidewinder thumb buttons weren't under my thumb with a normal grip. So I took a chance and ordered this... It's perfect. The first thumb button is directly under my thumb, but because of the mouse design and how it allows your thumb to rest on the extension below the button there is no worry about pressing it accidently. Most of the other mice that tested also had thumb buttons that weren't easily usable with my normal grip. This has been the best mouse I've ever used. Highly recommended.

This mouse moves accurately, runs without a driver, and is more comfortable than the G5, G9 and Death Adder (yes I do own all of them). Simply the perfect mouse. The only thing they could do better is the scroll wheel having the lean left and right buttons like the G5/G9. If you are looking for a cheaper gaming mouse look no further. I wish I'd found this before buying the others! No problems with acceleration (once you have properly tweaked windows)

The program enclosed on the cd is used to set the two dpi settings, once you have done that you no longer need it. I have mine set to 400/1600.

This is a must have if you want a precise mouse for fps bliss!

NOTE: (added later) On some surfaces the lift off distance may be too high. Paired with the SteelSeries I-2 this isn't a problem.

It works very well, feels great, and while I don't use DPI over 1500 much, the 2400 would be a great feature for high-DPI gamers. The software is unobtrusive and easy to use, while the body of the mouse is comfortable and perfectly suited for "claw-grip" gamers.

But for all the pluses, it's not reliable. I've seen several reviews already--not on Amazon--that show the OCZ laser sensor is not reliable. Mine died within three weeks.

I'm considering not RMAing it and just hanging it up on the wall like a trohpy. Back to Logitech, I guess. Pity, really. It was a great mouse.

This mouse looks and feels great. I have had 2 now. First one lasted 3 days and quit. Oh well, that happens. 2nd one had problems from the start. Wouldn't download profiles. It lasted 1 day and then died totally. A little hard to program but once done easy to change and use. Liked removable weights and lighted dpi selector. To bad they have such lousy quality control. Save time and money. Look elsewhere for your gaming mouse.

No palm support. Looks beefy like the sidewinder,

But It's low profile for a claw grip.

The adjustable Dpi didn't work. Not only that, but it would

also crash my machine. The dpi button and screen on the bottom

is just bad design.

Tracking was the worst I've ever seen. Even with their proprietary

This mouse is quite sensitive. At first I clicked the right mouse button a lot by accident (just letting your finger rest is almost enough to click it). Scroll wheel works fine, and middle clicking is actually really easy (it doesn't scroll when you try to click). High/Low sensitivity is great for Boot Camp (Windows uses lower sensitivity than OS X). This mouse is very light, and tracks very well on all kinds of surfaces. You need a pretty big hand, I imagine; I scroll with my middle finger, so to stretch the middle finger over there while keeping the ring finger on the side would be harder for small hands. I don't think I'll ever need another mouse...

As the title of my review suggests I am disappointed with this mouse not with its usage but with the "bug" where the LED light integrated in the mouse stays ON all the time even after I switch off my PC. So I have to disconnect the mouse every time I switch my computer off, which is very annoying. If you're looking for a review for this mouse... I can pretty much predict you are seeing how much of a novelty this mouse is. Lucky you; it really isn't that much of a novelty at all.

Saitek has a real winner here considering they were able to combine "Bare basic mouse" with "Novelty appeal" as most fail to do. We've all seen LED mouse that blind you, blink annoyingly, and look downright butt ugly. But this mouse is different in that is isn't over the top in anything it tries to do, and it ends up being a pretty cool mouse to use.

For starters, this mouse has some big advantages going for it. It's large, it only has three buttons, and it's a simple oval shape. No fancy "ergonomics", no "strategically placed" side buttons, and no other useless non-sense that requires software. It just feels like a giant shiny smooth pebble / egg in your palm. It's plug and play, it's see through and feels good. The buttons are very large and very "clickie" to the touch. You KNOW when you click the button. Unlike other mouses which offer too little resistance that causes you to double click or "press" on a button because you feel you might have not hit it. The cherry on top is that it's also a basic optical mouse, not an annoying ball mouse which means it's very light.

The novelty factor of the mouse is that it has two lights, one on the mouse scroll wheel (which is blue) and the other which is a white led that illuminates the window that houses the picture. It's pretty self explanatory that you can put any picture you want in there, but you can also just leave it blank if you want an simple looking illuminated mouse. The one huge thing that I was worried about before I bought this mouse was how the led for the picture was going to face. Basically most mice out there with led lighting have the led facing TOWARD you, making it blinding or annoying like a spot light. Saitek has some sense to point the led illuminating the window DOWN onto the picture. What you get is reflected light off the picture, and depending on how much white is in the image, there's basically no glare.

If I didn't give this mouse a perfect review, it's because the one major drawback of the mouse I found is that it's permanently lit. So even if you turn your computer off, as long as the mouse is connected to the USB port, it will remain lit. Not good for those who have their computers in their room and sleep in total darkness. A lot of people may find this extremely annoying, and I can't blame them.

A couple of co-workers have done some fun stuff with this mouse when I recommended it to them after seeing mine. Like breath mints in the photo window, M&M's, Tic Tacs, and even loose change. The space in-between the shell casing and the picture surface is quite large, so you can actually squeeze some things in there.

For the price and the "cool" factor of this mouse, it's hard not to own one just for the heck of it. It's definitely something different, and really a conversation starter for the gadget freaks out there. For those technically inclined, you can even switch out the led and change it to another color. All in all, it's hard to bad mouth such a fun little mouse. I got a couple off Amazon to save for future use just in case they discontinue this model. All you can do is at least give a look over if you see it on retail shelves.

i love how you can put pictures in this mouse.. i have not seen anything like this...i never knew that it lights up that was an exciting suprise, its great & very bright.. i ordered it and got an empty box..they sent me another one... but i wouldve liked to get my product when i needed it...

Well, I was having trouble getting a mouse to work with my computer. I ordered this one since it is inexpensive and a match in brand to my keyboard. Well, I printed a photo of my husband and daughter, cut it to fit, and it is so great (the mouse works extremely well, and the photo shows up really well), I plan to give some as gifts coming up.

I highly recommend this to anyone wanting an inexpensive mouse that not only performs well, but is pleasing to the eye.

After looking at the prices of other "mice", I really was not expecting much from this one. It is actually a lot better than the one that came with my computer. There is no ball to have to clean. A template comes with the mouse to make the photo easy to cut out. The light never goes off, by the way.
